Awards
The Hospital Educator and Academic Liaison Association (HEAL) is proud to recognize the outstanding professional contributions of our members and partners by honoring them with one of the following three awards.
The Nan Songer Distinguished Member Award
Nan Songer Distinguished Member Award recognizes the commitment and expertise of a member who demonstrates excellence in the delivery of school intervention, liaison and re-entry services and/or educational supports for students with medical and/or mental health needs.
HEAL membership required to be eligible for this award.
The Apple Distinguished Member Award
The Apple Distinguished Member Award recognizes the commitment and expertise of a hospital or homebound teacher by honoring a member who demonstrates excellence in the delivery of curriculum and instruction to students with medical and/or mental health needs.
HEAL membership required to be eligible for this award.
The Bridge Award
The Bridge Award honors the contributions of an individual or group whose work bridges the gap between hospital and school for students with medical and mental health needs. HEAL recognizes these special efforts in supporting our members and/or the children, families, and schools we serve.
HEAL membership NOT required to be eligible for this award.
Nominees for the Nan Songer Distinguished Member Award and The Apple Distinguished Member Award must be a dues-paying Professional Member of HEAL Association. Members of HEAL Association and non-members may submit a nomination for awards.
